Day 4 and the mixed bag came about..we did meet the kids though!
A mixed bag of events happened today....see more.
We had a normal breakfast and were out of the resort by 10am. We took turns in shuttling back and forth with Steve's van and the car Burke has down here.
I was left at Randy's this morning to check on the internet cafe and its availability for the students to use it in creating their accounts.
During this time, the students arrived at Sheffield and met with their counterparts. I was not there during this time, but was told it went well as the students exchanged information and got to know each other better. Some students were very shy, but we were welcoming on every level so as we prompted them to get up in front up the group.
Just as I arrived at the school, I was able to catch the kids going outside to do a large group ice breaker in the court yard. Basically the kids would raise their hands to similar items they enjoy, etc, and then step to the middle of the circle to show the likenesses between cultures.
The kids then departed ways back to the resort to prepare for a long day tomorrow attending the Sheffield All Ages School graduation ceremonies. On a personal note, this is cool to myself and Brandon because one of these kids graduating is a partner Brandon had on the first trip in 2007.
James and I stayed long and did a quick inspection on the pcs. 2 were found to be faulty, one bad power supply, a bad ground job on the usb port for one machine and it killed my usb stick. We also had to image a drive. Ever thoughtful of the local economy, James decided to bring the items to Yellow down at Yellow Computers in Negril. Yellow was able to fix the power supply, pointed out the usb issue, but there was time needed for the printer and the hard drive image for the other machine.
At this time, part of the good mixed bag rose its head as we were introduced to Dalton, a manager across the street who's company just happens to have the high speed internet we are looking to use at the school. Turns out Dalton is a 10 year alumni of the Sheffield school, so he got on the phone and found out a lot of VERY helpful and useful information for us. He was a very cool guy about it, and helped us out free of charge with good intentions. A big "bless! bless!" to Dalton.
